Highschool Of The Dead

Why yes I AM alive... it's been a busy, hectic ands stressful time for me in the real world so this is a fun review on something I've watched twice now.

This anime has 12 episodes and come in both English and Japanese with English subs but if I was you... I'd really, really not watch the English version, they make jokes and references fit for the western world like 'who is she? Sarah fucking Paling?' but they are so out of place with a very obvious IN JAPAN based show and far too many curse words are added in.

It's like western audiences can't enjoy something unless there is pointless 'FUCKING A's added or something... but the Japanese version is very good /weeabo

So yes, story is the same as any good Zombie related show or movie. Normal day everyone is just doing normal shit and suddenly ZOMBIES and all of the city and later all of Japan is up shit creek.

So yeah, based on a main guy, the girl he fancies and a bunch of other students who don't know each other very well and the school nurse band together to escape the school and find a safe haven together and to survive.

They later meet a little girl and save her and normally I'm very very against whiny kids.. but she's not annoying and is very adorable, awww. So yes the show is everything you'd want for in a zombie related show and more! The gore is awesome, it's very gory and the characters for the most part pretty awesome/

The show is emotional too, you really end up liking the people and do care what happens regardless of them missing a third dimension. The animation is swish and not too typical of anime where it's all yap yap yap and no ones mouth moves. There are really good fight scenes.. some really WTF moments.

There is a matrix boob scene.. I don't know if the person who made it has even seen real tits... but son, they do NOT work like that and they certainly don't make 'badooong' noises when they move. Every girl in the show minus the little girl are smuggling large melons around to help them survive the days ahead.

The cast is pretty cliche..

Main calm cool hero but doesn't want to be type

Hot girl love interest [who does kick ass]

Hot silent, serious girl

Ditsy blond with huge tits

Fat nerdy guy who comes in use.

But other then the cliche to the max cast they are good to watch and like I said it's a very gory and emotionally charged show. But I do find all the woman wanna jump on Mr calm guys dick like no tomorrow.. I don't know if it's due to him just being a 'swell guy' or the only other cock provider is a nerdy fat dork..

Either way..

OH and if you like tits and ass? this anime is full of it. Ass and tits EVERYWHERE it's a very fan serivce fuled anime and you could tell the person making it was having a very long dry spell and needed to see someones ass and tits regardless of who or whats. But if you don't mind that then this is a great anime, if your really not a fan of over sexed things... boy you will hate it in the first ten minutes.

The show also shows the nature of people who survive, we have a teacher who is nuts and saves a handful of students but turns them into a sex crazed cult who follow his every word. It's good to have a show that's kids trying to survive in the end of the world type deal and how they are forced to grow up and cope with it.

DEAD SPACE : Aftermath

So I've always been a fan of DEAD SPACE games and been on abit of a Dead Space kick as of late, bought both movies and the novel and god damn if I had the money I'd be buying the bladecutter replica in my local nerd shop for £300 phaaw dat weapon.

Right now I will warn you right away not to get put off of this movie just from the CGI because it.is.the.worst.CGI.I.ever.saw EVER SAW.

The CGI is terrible so bad I had no words for it but thankfully the CGI part of the story only serves as a break between the anime style story parts. Think of the 'Animetrix' where each story is a different anime style, it's pretty neat.

The worst CGI....

The story closes the gap between DEAD SPACE 1 and 2 and focuses on resident crazy mother fucker Nolan Stross and his team. His team are him, a Hispanic fella with a mech arm, a big buff black man and a Chinese nurse and a bunch of other people that.. don't really matter although drunken Scottish captain amuses me. But don't get attached to anyone the death count is huge.

I always love comic books, movies, novels that fill gaps between things it just gives the franchise more of a story and if you really loved the games this movie keeps damn cannon and strings things together and you often go 'oooh that makes sense'

Each story is from a characters point of view and has a different anime style, all are pretty awesome minus the last one which is on par with the shitty CGI but I'm no art critic what do I know? Not scary in the least bit but an interesting watch, the blood and gore is well animated and I love the Necromorphs.

We find out about the Marker, where it went after Isaac fucked shit up in number 1 and how it took over the place you go as Isaac in number 2, find out how he gets there and how everything started and it's a good ol' watch. I don't want to ruin it TOO much.

The black guy is a crazy mother fucker and often sees his dead girl and shit goes wrong for our team, anyone who comes in contact with the MARKER decides to go batshit insane and off the deep end which explains why Nolan Stross is a giant nutball.

We find out he also has a part in the Ishimura and he's happily married with a son but his wife has a case of YOUR SLEEPING WITH YOUR CO-WORKER BAAAAW!! which in all fairness he IS which leads to some badly drawn boobies and we see as well as being crazy and hen pecked Nolan has a case of shadow crotch.

So his wife does his head in and is rewarded with blade cutter to the face.

We see some signs of the crazy ass religion that is all over in DEAD SPACE cannon but not too much which did shock me since it is all around in both games. Stross himself views Necromorphs as the future and this causes him to really descend into true nutbaggary.

A cool thing about the movie other then the neat animations from the peoples POV's is they use all the sound effects used in the game which add's to cannon and is a nice touch.

I can't stress enough how awful the CGI is and that you should not let it put  you off because the rest is a very good watch.

Another

Another is a brand new anime airing in Japan at the moment based on a best selling novel by Yukito Ayatsuji which was published in fall of 2009 and even has a live action set for summer in Japan. Another has about 5 episodes subbed at the moment.

I was big into anime back when I was a teenager but not as much any more unless it was of the horror genre, a friend linked me to the first episode so I decided to run with it and also decided to give a review. The series is a little confusing at times, the art style is neither too girly or too mannish, sure they have the pretty school girls with the big eyes but that's most anime for you.

There's nothing to write home about with the anime art style but it's nice enough to look at.

I personally find the anime slow going and not enough 'oooh' to keep me too interested in the first two episodes but after that it kicks off with it's gore and it gets interesting as a serious of unfortunate deaths happen around the people and their family, you find out more about what's going on and the plot gets deeper.

The gore is pretty neat, face planting the floor of a list so fast you die is pretty fun, even more so when it shows you in repeat like four times one after the other in case you blinked.

If your not a fan of creepy looking dolls, mainly BJDs [Ball Jointed Dolls] then they'll give you the creeps more so. When it gets into it's atmosphere it does it well in typical Japanese horror style, slow and foreboding.

If you want more from your horror then slow going eerie feelings then this isn't for you.

I will stick with it but like I said, it's ok I hope it picks up in episodes to come. For now I give it a 2.5/5
