Ghost Stories

I decided I would share some more ghost stories from personal events that have either happened to me, people I know or family and trust me, coming from the middle of buttfuck nowhere that's been around as long as the doomsday book.. there's a fair few to share.

Again, if you don't believe in ghosts then it might not be your thing, and you might be able to poke holes but some of us believe without a doubt and not everything in life can be explained.. 

Cellar Ghost..

Back when I was 15 I got my first job in a local pub on a hill, I worked just as a waiter, getting dirty things from tables, washing them up, collecting glasses and all of that crap. I often got sent down to the cellar to grab things from the fridge and put down rubbish.

I only worked there a few months but in those months odd little things would keep happening..  The cellar was smelly, always really fucking cold and could always hear things. It was mostly the booze and all the tube systems and what not but sometimes it felt like you could hear steps on the cold hard floor. Like someone was coming down the cellar steps to join you.

It was two rooms, a small one at the back that was storage then the one with all the barrels and fridges. Sometimes, most times in fact the lights didn't work or flickered allot. All easy to explain things but it didn't change how freaking creepy it was and bare in mind I was 15 years old and told to go into a dark dank smelly place under the stairs.

I used to get out of there as soon as I fucking could. Aside from the foot steps and overall unpleasant feeling of the cellar other odd things happened. There seemed to always be a breeze that would bat the light switch string to the storeroom, not like even an expected amount from just opening up the trap door but like someone had just used it.

Once I clicked it to look into the storage room and it felt warmish, like someone had been playing with it or something. Again I tried to ignore the feeling something wasn't right. 

One day I went down into the cellar and there was a bottle of wine smashed on the floor, I asked co workers and the boss if they'd noticed and no one had done it. So I had to bloody clean up the mess like the valued bottom rung of the business ladder I was.

So now it was dark, smelly and I was dealing with glass and fumes of a really nasty over priced bottle of wine. Now comes one of the biggest things that shit me up, lights went off for a few moments and then back on and a really big piece of glass was missing. I fucking legged it.

I tried my best to avoid the cellar for the rest of the week, well for a few weeks.. Then I had to return and this was the last straw and I quit [I also found another job] I went to shut the fridge and the door just flew back open when I moved away, which such force.. I was gobsmacked.

And trying not to sound like a crazy whiny bitch I confronted my boss about all the shit in the cellar to which he replied 'Yeah it's haunted, some people died in there while hiding out years ago' by years ago he meant during the black death... oh good.

Make what you will of the story but christ. I hate cellars.

Ghosty Cupcakes

Once again I allowed my friend to talk me into doing something horridly girly with them [Check out their blog here!] and I tried once again to make something from 'A ZOMBIE ATE MY CUPCAKE' as many can remember from the post here where we tried to make 'BROKEN GLASS' effect cupcakes I really don't bake well.

So using the same book we took a crack at making the cute ghost ones.



We made basic cupcake bases as followed


-250g Plain flour, sifted
-Pinch of salt
-2 Tsp baking powder
-190g Caster sugar
-115g Unsalted butter, cubed
-2 Large eggs
-120ml Whole milk
-2 Tsp Vanilla extract
-Icing sugar
-Red food dye
- Marshmallows





The idea behind it was to make cupcakes and a marang that would sit on top of the giant marshmallows we bought and they would form 'peeks' to look like our ghosts.

The cupcakes were just a normal cupcake concoction.






1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/gas mark. Put the flour, salt, and baking powder into a medium bowl, then add the sugar. Add the cubes of softened butter, dotting them evenly into the flour mixture. Blend with an electric mixer, starting on slow speed and working up to medium until evenly incorporated. Add the eggs one at a time, beating to combine.




2. Combine the milk and vanilla extract in a separate jug, and then add to the batter in three parts, beating well after each addition. Spoon the batter into the paper cases, filling them three-quarters full.




3. Bake for 15 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean. Cool in the muffin pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.





Then we made the meringue which was made from the following..

For the meringue frosting

4 large egg whites
200g granulated sugar
¼ tsp cream of tartar
Pinch of salt

Now.. we had all of that but no electric whisk.. and I realllly do suggest you use one,. between her small latte coffee whisk and my pure awesome man strength... it never thickened... we even adding icing sugar and everything.. wasn't having it.

Normally one would put a large marshmallow on your cupcake for the base..

So we decided to give up on are utter failure and make the vampire bite ones instead using food dye and pomegranate seeds.

Euro Gamer 2013: Costumes + Games

Well last weekend yours truly embarked on a journey to Euro Gamer Expo which was rather fun, even dressed up like Bill from L4D which is always great fun and hey hearing 'AREN'T YOU DEAD' and 'GRABBIN' PILLS' never ever gets old.... nope...

DL is a pretty awesome looking game and it flows so smoothly sadly you only got an 8 minute demo but it was fun to play. Smooth fluid movment, easy to control.. it's a very pakor game with zombies dotted around.

 

I'm not sure I will buy it but it was a lot of fun to play.

 

I also made friends with Ghost.

Trott The Zombie

Trott the Zombie is an 8 part web story by Danny Albury & David Bispham.

 

'This is an epic 8 part WebSeries that follows the adventures of Trott The Zombie. As the world around him crumbles and burns, Trott struggles to adjust to his new role as a member of the Undead.'

 

As a fellow fan of horror and zombies I'm hoping this gets all the funding it needs not just as a horror fan but it is also amazing to see what a couple of people with a passion for horror can achieve and see their goals.

TROTT THE ZOMBIE

 

Blooded

Another Brit movie for you all to learn about! Now one thing I will get out of the way now is my personal feelings about the subject of this movie. It's about the banning of fox hunting here in the UK and how it did start alot of fights and there were as many pro hunting people as anti hunting and the movie is about how it got banned but people still did it and the government didn't care to enforce the law and hunting parties carried on, some animal rights extremists take matters into their own hands.

I grew up in the country where fox hunts were a local and often thing and my personal stand on it is I'm against it, it's disgusting. Hunting in such a way is vile, hunting for food I'm less against even as a non meat eater I understand the food chain and some places people need to hunt to live. But to have an animal chased around and then mauled to death by some posh assholes dogs nopenopenopenope. So as an anti hunt person watching pro hunting people treated in the same way they do the Fox's so it was a rather conflicted feeling during this movie, getting to see what these people deserve but also feeling bad for the well written characters.

I am not pro extremist I know this is just a movie and ANY extremist movements one way or another is bad. Now I've gotten the 'it's all about me' part of this movie out of the way time for the review.

So the movie is about the youngest hunt lord in the UK and his other friends who go to Scotland to get out of the heat of the media where so many anti hunt people really hope this man gets a smack to put it lightly. Some animal extremists follow them and make a movie on what they did to these people and it goes online the movie is a re inaction of what happened to these people as they are interviewed through out.

Think of FOURTH KIND but the footage doesn't run along side each other it's more like a survivors story while actors act it out. So each character has two actors a real one who is in the interview and a fake one who acts them in the 'movie' it's abit strange but also pretty neat.

The cast is Lucas the hunt master, his best bum buddy Charlie, brother, brothers black American girlfriend and his ex girlfriend he lusts for and is planning to ask to marry him.

So they are all up in Scotland having a gay ol' time and shooting deer and what not when Liv the ex girlfriend tells Lucas she is already engaged, he has a massive huff and storms out the cottage and vanishes.

Soon they all wake up in their underwear in the middle of the hills all alone, the fear and panic grip them as they have no idea what is going on. All their reactions are different as they stumble around and freeze their bits off.

So after stumbling around like morons for a few moments soon they get shot at by the animal rights extremists and run for their lives getting to feel how so many animals have felt in the past, scared, confused and loud noises going off around them as they run in any direction. No one really gets hurt and they are simply forced to read out a speech on camera by the masked men before being left alone to go back to the cottage.

Still no sign of Lucas so the two manly men in big sweaters decide to go and find him and they see him sticking to his guns and refusing to read this out as it goes against anything he stands for, he is an icon for the hunt world and he knows he has to stand for what he believes in even if he is tortured and his life is on the line.

He doesn't budge standing strong to his convictions. But he soon folds when they get hold of the women he loves..

The plot is very basic and no one dies and for a movie called 'Blooded' there is a very noticeable lack of blood. The movie is good and gripping if you have this kind of anti hunt or pro hunt view and get sucked into it. Like I said above, I was conflicted. The movie takes a little to get going but I really enjoyed the style it was filmed in.

I thought there was some very well shot scenes and lovely scenery but a very unscary horror movie this one was. It was enjoyable but as a horror it lacked alot. No scares pretty much no blood but it was still a good movie, really felt like a documentary which I think was what it was going for so good work.

Good movie, bad horror movie.

London Film & Comic Convention

Not many photos or much to say compared to other cons as I only went on the Sunday and Sunday is always the slow day but regardless of this I had an ace time as did my friends. Met some awesome cosplayers and had some nice conversations with them. So onwards!

All the cosplayers I was able to snap, like I said I missed out on Sat.

There was an awesome horror table with some props and merch, I really want the Hellraiser cube so badly.. but I didn't have a £50 spare ha.

And there was a large Alien and Predator stand.

I like the more comic book and sci-fi based things are even MORE horror stalls!

Sadly Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame bailed as they moved the filming for the show around and we missed him sadly.. But a huge Norman Reedus fan decided to get a book, take photos and let us all put messages for him and it'll get sent away so that's pretty cool.

Oh and I got to meet Tom Skerritt but I don't know if it's the fella's age or what but he wasn't very up for chatting, didn't seem friendly and I really don't think he knew where he was..

All in all it was fun enough, bit boring but least didn't have to line up very long. Got to meet Short Round from Indy, The Todd from Scrubs and other people and a day in London was fun anyway.
