Dinner With The Dead - Red Lion

Few weekends ago me and a friend went to the Red Lion pub in Avebury for lunch and I'd not heard about it's legend but apparently it's pretty haunted. One of the tables that you can sit at is the well where it was all based.

The glass table lets you see allll the way down the well and it's pretty effing cool to be honest, never sit there though as so many people ask to look down your table.. The pub itself is really nicely located, very pretty on the inside and has a nice feeling about it.

The story goes as follows

A woman known as Florie is said to haunt this family pub. Dating back to the English Civil War she was thrown down a well by her soldier husband who caught her in bed with another man. Several reports have been received of Florie being dressed in black walking round the pub looking for a man with a beard. One report was that of a bearded man sitting under a spinning chandelier. Customers have also seen Florie in the ladies toilets and one of the past landladies reported seeing Florie throw salt and pepper across the tables and chairs in the restaurant area. Another report is that of spooky looking horse drawn carriages pulling up outside the pub in the dead of night, this can both be seen and heard but never both.

So yeah the pub is a very nice place to vist and the food is pretty great, I have no eaten a better burger in my whole effing life. I didn't know it was haunted till after.. you can also STAY at this place... how awesome is that?

Much love
